TOUGH QUESTION: If God meant us to have sex, enjoy it and..talk about it (which seems to be reflecting the way all baffld users believe) why is it still a taboo in almost all religions? Females/male users on baffld are open about having multiple partners...what are your religious beliefs and where do you think you stand in terms of religion? Do you think religion is playing a moralistic role and it shouldn't be that way? Please explain your stand. I want to KNOW...

Oh I like THIS one. God wants you to have as much sex as possible and as often as possible, there is no debate on this, every major religion agrees on this point. ..
..
Then come the fine print..... Depending on the religion, there are restrictions & caveats, the biggest being that you should only be doing this with persons (notice the plural) whom you are committed to. ..
And this for reasons of both survival and stability. Religion has always concerned itself with the masses, and in order to stabilize a large group of people, it is always best to set down some rules so that they don't kill each other off trying to take what isn't theirs. The rule of property is one of the big ones, and sadly women once fell into this category (depending on where you live they still might), so rules were developed as to who can have sex with whom...

I'm an atheist...

I'm an agnostic myself, but for those who do believe that God is guiding things -- if God didn't want people to enjoy sex, why did he make it pleasurable?..
..
but here's a more biological notion: the purpose of sex, biologically, is procreation. But since having and raising a kid is a monumental amount of work and responsibility, few people would rationally undertake that responsibility. ..
..
so our species has evolved to sucker ourselves into procreation by making us lose our minds -- with the quest for sexual pleasure -- during the act of conception.....
..
of course, these days sexual pleasure and making babies have been separated -- by birth control, among other things. In other words, we can have sex without having babies to an extent that previous generations couldn't...
..
but perhaps we're still hardwired to crave sexual pleasure as part of our body's lingering attempt to "trick" us into into continuing to populate our species. ..
..
just a thought...

Difficult, indeed. ..
For me, and I'm blunt here: Because most religions institutions (not the faith/beliefs!) are full of s***. They don't have anything to do with God. Churches represented the right beliefs, the right images and rules for the founder, but a follower can't simply copy this par for par. Everyone needs to find their religion, their God for themselves. Churches can help, at best...
..
If sex is bad for you, that's ok. If your God wants you to waste away your sexual energy, that's ok. If your God says he's the only true God and you need to do XYZ, that's ok, too...But that doesn't mean my God says the same. Please respect my God as much as you demand respect for yours...
..
IMHO, many religions are misunderstood anyway. At their roots, they basically all say the same thing, they all want enlightenment for all humans. At least until some "earthly prophet" deluded their true message...
..
That's what my God has to say to that ;-)..

I'm neo-pagan, and sex, particularly in a ritual sense, is encouraged. ..
For me personally sex must be a reflection of love, firstly. But that's not necesarily the case for others who follow similar spiritual beliefs...
Good question!..
