I believe it shows a level of extreme untrustworthiness. Who's to say this wouldn't happen again? Especially with the excuse, "don't worry, it's just a one-night stand". That said, I've never seen Sex in The City (never cared enough) and I've never been in this situation...

When I went to see SATC there were only two men in the theater. Why did she take you? Why not go with her girlfriends?..
..
It depends on the circumstances. He did violate trust, and one of the marriage vows is to be true to each other. But, if you have kids, often people can work it out. ..

Steve looked REALLY OLD didn't he?..

Now i'm not the soppiest of individuals but I LOVE Steve, and glad they sorted it out. I don't know why he felt he had to tell her though, (I guess for a movie it made for better viewing)...Fair enough she was going to be angry, but sex is sex, and he only did it once and regretted it. i hope if it happens to me I'd be able to forgive, but I guess until you're in the situation you can never really tell. Now if he's been doing it for a while it would be a totally different story....

It depends if the marriage is worth saving...If the "cheating" party is whole-heartedly sorry and the relation as a whole is strong, forgiveness can be found...But the "cheated" party also has the responsibility of whether they are able to not forget per se, but not bring it up again and again almost nagging the "cheater"...
