While I think the 'net is a fine venue for flirting, in my opinion you should save the actual asking-out for a personal encounter. Let me tell you why. First, if you message him on MySpace, and he doesn't answer right away, you will work yourself into a frenzy waiting and wondering. It may just be that he hasn't logged in for a while, and here's you: maniacally, compulsively hitting the refresh button while the rest of your life is on hold. ..
..
Second, if you ask him in person you'll be able to gauge his reaction, replete with body language, facial expressions, and pheromone level, right away. Let's pretend his answer is, "Oh, I can't go out on Saturday, I have plans." If you read that on your monitor, you won't know what to make of it. But if he says it -- with real regret in his voice, brows furrowed and frowning -- you'll have a better idea of how things stand. So, I advise you to flirt him up on Myspace, but ask him out the old-school way. Good luck!..

Reverse the situation... a guy you barely know, sends you a message on Myspace about hooking up or going out on a date... would that be wierd ?..

Face to face is still the best way, and it's good training , for when real life confronts you, and you simply can't text your way out of a situation...

He'd probably be excited to hear from you. ..
I might message him on Facebook. But, I never ever log on or check myspace. I guess it depends on which account he's more active on...

While it might seem easier and less nervewracking, initially, to ask him out through Myspace, it'll actually be better to pluck up your courage and do it in person. That way you won't have to wait for a reply, you'll know right away and get it over with. You could certainly set the stage through Myspace -- send him links or whatever (sorry, I use facebook so not familiar w/how myspace works) for places you like to go, bands you like, etc. Or plan some kind of a group meetup/outing and invite him to that. Then you could say, "hey, maybe we should hang out one-on-one sometime" or invite him to dinner at your place, or drinks, etc. You know what I mean?..

Or if there is a band or something that you both like you could invite him and a few people to that, and see how you well you get on. If it goes well, then definitely message him for a drink, btu try and meet him instead of just randomly messaging him to ask..him out...
